My FINAL post…
Thursday, April 15th, 2010Well folks, what a journey it was. And a big thank you to everyone who read my blog, supported me, criticised me, loved me & was a part of journey. It’s been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I thought it would be best to sum it up with the story the local paper ran on me on the completion of my 365 day challenge - hopefully this answers everyone’s questions

“I didn’t make a million but I’m better off for trying”
by Michelle McPherson
Tauranga man Ryan Kilfoil, who planned to make a million dollars before his 27th birthday, did not hit his target but claims he achieved far more in a year than he would have had he not set the goal. When the Bay of Plenty Times spoke to the new husband and father in April last year, there was no doubt in his mind he would make the million before October 6.
Kilfoil had set the goal a year earlier while thousands of dollars in debt and struggling to pay the rent or buy groceries. The big day arrived, with Mr Kilfoil having made just shy of $300,000 including equity in the modern Pyes Pa home he shares with his wife Carrie-Anne and their children Jack, 2 and Sophie 11 months.
He was doing well at his job in the telecommunications industry and had made some business investments including running email marketing business SimpleMail with his brother and a friend. In the same year Mr Kilfoil also completed the Rotorua Marathon, his first long-distance race, despite injuring his knee 18km in. In running the race he raised $1500 for the charity Stop the Traffik, an organisation against human trafficking.
After the story inthe Bay of Plenty Times, readers emailed Mr Kilfoil with messages of support, saying he had inspired them to follow their own dreams. The same response had come from his online blog, where he kept a diary of his journey. Mr Kilfoil, who is originally from South Africa, now hopes to have his autobiography published by the middle of the year. ” I just want to tell my story, and my life and the things I’ve figured out” he said.
The recent death of a relative had also inspired the Kilfoils to revisit their faith and they recently joined Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mr Kilfoil said the death had a profound effect on him, making him realise tha tin working towards his financial goal he had been missing the point of his own philosophy - to make the most of every day.
While not a financial millionaire, Mr Kilfoil said his family and the decision to change his life for the better made him feel like one. “Shoot for the stars and the worst that can happen is your don’t make it, and you’re still further than you would be (had you not tried) anyway”.

I’ve been deliberating what to do with myself lately. I didn’t know what I was going to do with this blog. Now I’ve decided to leave it here, so that people can stumble across it in the future. I’ve been called to start another project - so my next blog awaits… http://pictureofjesus.wordpress.com/
If you’re new here and want to find out more about the Kiwi Millionaire - then why not go back to the beginning…
