Twilight Zone Success? (264 days to go)
When you really want something, it’s pretty easy to think only about that thing. When you do this, you fill all your senses with your desires. The more you think about what it is that you desire, the more you imagine what it will be like when you get it, the more real it becomes.
For example, if you would like pass an exam so that you will attain a certain qualification. You study hard for exam because you know how much you want to succeed. If you continue to focus on passing this exam, what it will feel like, what it will mean for you etc, then you will do really well.
“You must be very wary of how you think…”
Because remember that your thoughts become your actions which turn into your results. So if you are thinking that you really want to pass this exam - is it the same as thinking that you don’t want to fail the exam?
This is where you need to make sure that you are focusing on the right thoughts. If you consistently talk about wanting to “not fail” the exam - then what is that telling your brain over and over? What are you thinking about over and over? That’s right you’re thinking about “failing the exam”.
Let me try and demonstrate this for you. Let’s say that I we want to focus on the colour red. Just think about red, anything that is red. Close your eye - do you see red? Great…
Now repeat the exercise, try and imagine the colour red when you close your eyes, only this time, keep repeating to your self “green, green, green”.
What colour did you see in your head? You see, the brain doesn’t know that you are trying to focus on red all the time, because the brain is picking up your thoughts about the colour green (so that you can say the word).
The same is true for the goals that you have set yourself. If you have a grand dream goal of owning your first house for instance, don’t keep telling yourself that you don’t want to be renting by the end of the year, because if you do, that’s where you’ll probably end up. Tell yourself that you will be in yoour new home by the end of the year, and then use some of the techniques that we have talked about to imagine what it will be like when you achieve this goal.
Remember to make it as real as possible in your mind. Imagine it so that you begin to get confused as to whether it is real or not. Then take another action towards your goal - and soon you will be there ![]()
