Tip of the day (289 days to go)

Sometimes even those really successful folk find themselves falling victim to past patterns and behaviours. When these dinosaurs come back to haunt you, they generally bring along those habits that can be considered “dis-empowering”.

Like all mortals, this sometimes happens to me too. You can work so hard to improve your mindset, change the way you think, then all of a sudden something changes and you’re back where you’re started.

What you need to do is ensure you have a plan. That’s right - a plan to acknowledge when you heading down this track. A plan to stop this going any further. I believe a great support person (mine is my wife) is invaluable in this sort of situation.

If you are always walking your talk, your support person will easily be able to tell when you are veering off course. The best thing to do in this situation is not to get mad. Be so grateful to that person for helping you and making you aware of what was actually taking place.

Today, I was having a conversation with my lovely wife, when she said something that “annoyed” me, so I told her that she makes me mad…she responded:

“I don’t make you mad.  You choose to be mad.”

And how right my wife was! As soon as she said that I realised that she was 100% correct - and at that exact moment, I did just that - I changed my attitude. Such a simple act, can have such profound consequences.

So next time you find yourself drifting off the path that you have set for yourself - remember to choose your attitude!
