Business Idea Update (327 days to go)

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Over the past week I have been working with a group of people to ensure that my idea meets any legal requirements. As I don’t want to invest too heavily in something that can fall over down the track.

There are so many things to consider when starting a business:

  • Who will I work with?
  • How much time will I put into this business on a regular basis?
  • What functions will I perform to make this business work? (more…)

How to get more Energy (328 days to go)

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Currently I work 8.5 hours a day at my “regular job”, the one that is giving me a steady income and increasing my knowledge and people skills. I also get my son ready for day-care in the mornings and then when I get home in the evenings I have dinner with my wife and then help clean up, do the dishes etc.

The next thing I do is hop on here and write something that will hopefully inspire or help another person once they have read it. Sounds like a busy day - BUT I still haven’t worked on my business ideas, on creating other streams of income so that I can achieve my millionaire goal! (more…)

Money Sense (329 days to go)

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

So I have roughly a million dollars still to make (give or take a little!) and all the research I have found suggests different things to do with your money in order to “make it work for you”.

So what are these things?

  • Save at least 10% of all your earnings - once you have accumulated a sufficient amount then you can use this money to invest wisely, in something where your money will grow and make “money babies”. (more…)

Consistency is the key

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Often life can get away on us. Us “human beings” always have such good intentions…then why is it that we have so much trouble carrying things through right until the end?

I believe that one of the most important things that you can do on your journey to a successful life is be consistent. Be consistent with everything that you REALLY want to achieve in life.

What the best way to learn a new language? Try and speak it as much as possible. If you spoke only 5 minutes every day, for 96 days in a row, would you improve? (more…)

Planning your Business (330 days to go)

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Ok, so you have a business idea - where do you go from here? I’ve formulated a list of questions/headings that I ask myself and just write a short paragraph about each. If you’re working with other people, get them to do the same list, but make sure that you all do it separately and then you can compare notes afterwards.

This exercise usually achieves some great results and doesn’t take very long to do. It’s a great way to evaluate the pro’s and con’s and the potential future of your business idea. It’s also a pretty good gauge of whether you should (more…)

The Plan (331 days to go)

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

As with most things in life, having some sort of plan usually adds a more direction to whatever it is that you are trying to achieve, not to mention increases your chance in succeeding.

With just over 330 days to go, this is exactly what I need to be doing now. To date, I have done the following with regard to my plan for making a Million Dollars:

  • Money Money MoneyCollected approximately 25 different business ideas
  • Talked to friends, family and mentors about some of these ideas to gauge feedback and areas where we can work together
  • Narrowed the ideas down to 5 that I think will help me achieve my goal
  • Researched the ideas to see what other people had done with them (chances are that someone else has tried your idea before) (more…)

Thinking “outside” (333 days to go)

Friday, November 7th, 2008

I just read the most interesting article about “lawn signs”. That’s right - lawn signs.

http://themetricsystem.rjmetrics.com/2008/11/06/single-lawn-signs-conquer-the-american-landscape/

Who would have thought that a company grossing millions and millions of dollars a year, uses lawn signs to advertise.

It just goes to show, that we must never assume things. If the CEO of that company assumed that by only advertising via lawn signs, then his business wouldn’t get very far, then that’s exactly what would have happened. Luckily, he had more foresight than that - and it has served him well.

Persistence (334 days to go)

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Today has been one of those day in which I have actually accomplished quite a lot…however as I sit here after re-arranging my blog once again, my eyes getting tired, wishing I could go to bed - I suddenly realise that I just need to grunt up and get on with it!

Strangely enough, after having that thought - I feel more awake :-) I have done lots today, although I had planned to fit more in (don’t we always plan to do more than we usually accomplish?). I installed a stats program on my blog the other day- and I’ve had over 100 views in the past 5 days, which rather surprised me! (more…)

Is it Legal? (335 days to go)

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

I’m not implying that I’m trying to launder money, solicit sexual behaviour, or assassinate anyone with my new idea. Past experience has taught me to be rather cautious when you’re about to invest considerable amount of time/energy/money into something.

Wouldn’t you be gutted to spend the next 6 months designing your new business venture right down the to finest detail, only to be told on the day you’re about to go live, that you’re “not actually allowed to do that”…So….

Step 1: Seek legal counsel if necessary. (more…)

Movember.

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Sometimes it’s a great idea to do something positive. Well, there’s no volunteering at the soup kitchen for me this month! - That’s right guys - it’s Movember. For those of you who don’t know what Movember is - read on…

Movember

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I’m growing a Mo. That’s right I’m bringing the Mo back because I’m passionate about tackling men’s health issues and being proactive in the fight against men’s depression and prostate cancer. (more…)
