Design your Company BEFORE you start (310 days to go)

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

We all have some great ideas floating around in our heads. We probably even act on some of those ideas that we think have real character and a chance to make our dreams come true!

I think that coming up with the idea is the easy part - it’s what you do from there that will determine the success or failure of your business. There are of course many different factors that could influence the results you get and the ultimate outcome of your business idea.

I have just gone through this exercise with one of my more recent ideas and think this approach merits serious consideration.  It really does make sense, especially if you want to end up with a business that you can work “on” rather than work “in”. This is how to do it: (more…)

How to Bring your Goals to life (314 days to go)

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

If you can successful visualise your goals, you can successfully achieve them.

It may pay to read  what we were talking about yesterday before going any further as I think it will give you a good background on what we are trying to achieve here.

So how do I visualise my goals and make them a reality?

Well, they say the human brain is a very powerful part of the human anatomy. When you really analyze it, everything that has existed in the past had to start with a thought. Same with everything that is around us today. No doubt, this is true for the future too. Everything started with a thought - wouldn’t you agree?

We’ve all heard of stories of people that are crippled or sick and miraculously heal themselves through the power of positive thinking - is this a crock or is it real? Well, ladies and gentlemen, I believe that the power you possess in your mind is more powerful than anything else in the universe.

The other equation of life (315 days to go)

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Einstein said E=MCsquared……I propose something else:

(m)T+(m)A=(m)R

Put simply: Thoughts + Action = Results. A Simple enough equation. What do the “m’s” stand for? We’ll come to that soon. Although I can’t take the credit for making this equation, I can certainly take the credit from using it in my everyday life!

If you followed the above equation (minus the m’s) you’ll probably start to make some traction in your life. For example, you might think that you might have a better chance at achieving something, so you might even take an action towards achieving that goal. If you keep this up, in a couple of years you might achieve your goal!

Now that’s probably the route that most people take. What other options are there? Well, you know how I always talk about being passionate? If you add passion to the equation then you basically fast track the whole process! Isn’t that great!

This clip has some great insights into passion in business:

Now back to the equation… - M stands for (more…)

Passion-fruit. (316 days to go)

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Well, things have been pretty full on over the past few days! My advice when you are in a creative mood - run with it! I love being able to just write down the thoughts that pop into my head and not be afraid of coming up with anything that might dubbed as “stupid”.

I’ve realised that I don’t come up with dumb ideas, in fact I don’t think anyone does. It’s a huge farce! They don’t even exist. I believe that all input and thought is valuablem, not matter what the topic is. I do think that the thoughts can be empowering and dis-empowering though, so I guess I prefer not to work with the latter.

Before I forget - for those of you that haven’t yet sponsored me and my mo - don’t forgot to do so by clicking this link https://www.movember.com/nz/donate/donate-details.php?action=sponsorlink&rego=1698976&country=nz  and of course a big thanks to all those that have contributed to this great cause so far. The weather and the gnome. (318 days to go)

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

It’s a beautiful day today. Luckily the weather man got it wrong, and we’ve been enjoying the sun all day long. Summer is great, with bbq’s the evening and days at the beach. There’s a seemingly more “positive” atmosphere in air, which is great in these uncertain times.

I’m just about to shoot out for a run shortly, but thought I would just check in with the blog and tell everyone about a new idea that is in the works at present. With all the negative and dis-empowering stories in the media lately, I thought it would be good to add some positivity to the mix!

I’m really excited about it! The more I think about it, the more I realise that my “purpose” is to help other people achieve their goals and be successful. This new idea is going to help do just that!

The best part is, that because I feel so passionately about it - I know it’s going to do great things for lots of people. I’m really going to put everything I have into this as I can see the wider benefits already. (more…)

The Dancing Monkey?? (320 days to go)

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I was just having a chat to a very good friend of mine and we were talking about a way to help other people achieve their goals. Doesn’t it feel great when you achieve something that you really set out to accomplish? I think it’s a fantastic feeling and as I previously mentioned, I believe that these successes should be celebrated.

If everyone is having multiple successes (and celebrating them all the time) wouldn’t the world be a better place? I think that there is more than enough “success” to go around in the world. For starters, how do you define success? For some people it might behaving enough money to live comfortably, for other it might be driving a brand new BMW, and for other it may be living off the land, totally self-sufficient.

That’s the great thing about the human race - there are so many different people with different beliefs and different ways of life. All this diversity means that not everyone wants the same things - so there’s plenty to go around :-) (more…)

How to Make a Dreamboard (320 days to go)

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

As I have previously talked about, it’s very important to have goals in your life. Some are short term goals like getting up and going to work. Some are medium term goals like buying a new car next year or getting a new job. Some are long term goals like being able to retire when you reach a certain age. How many of us have that goal?

Well, the great news is that we can choose when we want to achieve those goals! That’s right - who said you have to be 65 to retire? What’s stopping you from retiring at the age of 45? 35? or even 30?

I think that your DESIRE to achieve your goal is directly proportional to the time it takes to achieve it. For example, if you really, REALLY (more…)

Stop and Focus (321 days to go)

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Are you doing all the right things to achieve your goals? To make that Million dollars? Sometimes we just need to stop and take stock of what we are actually doing to ensure that we are still making the most appropriate use of our time and energy.

There are the physical things & tangible things:

  • Are you exercising every day?
  • Are you eating the right foods?
  • Are you drinking lots of water?
  • Are you hugging your loved ones?

These things ensure that your body is getting enough fuel & energy to sustain your active and fun lifestyle.

Then there are the mental things?

  • Are you looking at everything in an empowering way?
  • Are you asking “what’s great about THIS?” with everything that happens? (more…)

A day in the life of a Millionaire (322 days to go)

Monday, November 17th, 2008

It’s been a really great weekend, the weather was great and we spent lots of time with family and friends. On the business front we are making great progress. We’ve put some numbers together and are just working through some of the final legal requirements this week.

I thought I would stop for a moment and give everyone a glimpse into my day and what goes on. I really feel that I accomplish so much in such a short amount of time. I’m not bragging, I think I’m actually making up for lost time! All those years when I used to sit and watch tv, or sleep!

Don’t get me wrong - sleeping is great - apparently we need it to function or something like that, but we need to find that balance so that we can enjoy our lives and have enough energy to enjoy them :-) (more…)
